Four Mountaineers earn spots on ECAC Division II Field Hockey Team
MANSFIELD –
Taryn Schawillie was named Co-Rookie of the Year and
Kristyn Grunza,
Kristy Tutorow and
Jessie Wolski each were selected to All-ECAC Division II field hockey honors in voting released by the ECAC this week.
Schawillie recorded the second-most productive freshman scoring seasons in school history with 29 points on 13 goals and three assists. The freshman forward ranks among the top 10 in school history in points and goals per season while ranking 8th in the PSAC in goals and goals per game. Schawillie earned 2nd Team All-PSAC West honors earlier this year as was named to the All-Rookie team by womensfieldhockey.com.
Grunza ranked among the top midfielders in the nation this season scoring 12 goals and assisting on six others for 30 points. The sophomore, who was a 2nd Team All-PSAC West selection last year, becomes just the seventh player in school history to record 30 points in a season while her 12 goals ranks 10th in school history. In addition, Grunza ranked among the top ten in the PSAC in points, goals and assists. She was named to 1st Team All-PSAC West and 1st Team All-American honors earlier this year.
A sophomore, Tutorow was selected at forward where she ranked among the PSAC scoring leaders with 33 points on a team-high 15 goals and three assists. She ranked 8th in the conference in points and 7th in goals scored. Turorow's 33 points are the fifth most in a season in school history as are her 15 goals. She was named to 1st Team All-PSAC West and to 2nd Team All-American honors by womensfieldhockey.com.
Wolski, a second team All-PSAC West selection as an offensive player last season, began the season as a forward/midfielder before switching over to anchor the defense this season. A junior co-captain, Wolski's commitment to team success is credited for helping Mansfield reach the PSAC playoffs for just the second time in school history this season.
