USTFCCCA Release
NEW ORLEANS- Sophomore distance runner
Jess Scordino has been honored with Division II Outdoor Track & Field All-Atlantic Region accolades in the women's 5000m and 10000m events by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
The USTFCCA honors the top five from each region in individual events for the 2012 outdoor season.
Scordino earned a third place finish in the 5000m at the PSAC Outdoor Championships earlier this month with her time of 17:58.9.
This past April, Scordino shattered Charity Learn's school-record time of 37:25.8 in the 10,000m that was set in 2003 with her time of 35:46.96 at the Penn Relays in Philadelphia. Her mark was the 14
th best in the NCAA at the time and she was the highest non-Division I finisher in the race at the Penn Relays.
Scordino had provisionally qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Championships in the 10000m, however she was heartbreakingly bumped from the field by just 0.36 seconds in the long distance event.
